The job

Building a storm retention tank with a capacity of 15,000 cubic metres to hold water in a storm event, on Blackpool Road just north of Preston.

Our involvement

Engineering management

The challenge

The area was a flood plain so it was very soft ground making it difficult to anchor the tank and prevent it from lifting.

Our solution

We used 1900 piles driven at 16 metres depth for the intermediate piles and 21 metres depth for the pyramid piles [check]
